Job Description:
The Specialist, Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating multi-disciplined teams of Engineers and other functions to ensure successful execution of projects by meeting customer requirements within cost and schedule constraints. The position is for an intermediate professional with practical knowledge of the job area capable of working under moderate supervision to accomplish objectives. Candidates must be capable of communicating with contacts inside and outside the project team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. Identifies, defines, and addresses general problems that are typically within the immediate job area. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Establish schedule, resource, budget, and tool requirements for each engineering project
- Oversee and manage schedule and technical execution of engineering projects within budget and staffing constraints, and program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.
- Lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) comprised of Systems Engineers, Hardware and Software Engineers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from other functional disciplines
- Drive engineering team execution of each project; lead, direct, and review the work of assigned project team members, coordinating closely with Functional Managers on staffing requirements
- Act as Control Account Manager (CAM) for projects, providing regular Estimate At Complete (EAC) and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) analysis
- Identify and manage project technical and lifecycle risks and opportunities
- Serve as point-of-contact between Program Management, the engineering project team, and front line Functional Management.
- Participate in technical and cost proposal development
- Participate in technical exchanges with customers and suppliers; support customer visits and travel for new or ongoing business activities
- Must be able to travel (~10%)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; or 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 8 years prior experience; or Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior related experience; or lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- 4+ years’ experience as a Design Engineer with developmental experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, drive, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with DOORS requirements management software
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Direct experience working on defense contracts including earned value management
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is Min $92,500.00 - $171,500.00 Max.
