Job Description: 

 

IEC, Navigation Solutions delivers advanced military GPS and broader Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) capabilities that support mission requirements across weapon systems, ground platforms, airborne assets, maritime systems, and space environments. Navigation Solutions products are engineered to provide resilient PNT performance for the warfighter operating in denied or degraded environments. This role directly ensures that GPS receivers and simulators maintain mission effectiveness when exposed to adversarial threats and operational challenges.

A key responsibility of this role is to develop and debug robust embedded software to fulfill strict performance requirements related to GPS user equipment.  This role expands beyond coding, testing and debugging, and includes analysis of requirements, producing detailed documentation, conducting proof-of-concept evaluation of design alternatives, conducting code reviews, and other similar tasks.

Successful candidates perform complex professional software engineering assignments requiring advanced problem-solving skills. This requisition, and any potential offer, is contingent upon the award of government contracts and adherence to contract budgets.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Actively contribute to embedded C/C++ development for GPS and related equipment, including integration and debugging on target hardware
  • Develop high-quality documentation covering design details and demonstrating compliance to requirements
  • Interpret customer specifications to assist in defining requirements for software design and modification.
  • Support new programs from conceptual design, through detail design to completion.
  • Support legacy programs through incremental modification, analysis, and test of existing solutions.
  • Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance for other engineers on the software development team.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience in the design and analysis of realtime embedded software.  Master of Science or advanced degree preferred and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in working as a team lead, technical lead, and/or subject matter expert for an embedded software development project
  • 4+ years of experience as a technical contributor working with DoD / DoW customers or subcontractors
  • 6+ years of experience with Python and C/C++

 

Preferred Additional Skills: 

 

  • Experience in embedded software development using either Linux or Windows
  • Experience analyzing or designing algorithms for inertial measurement, signal processing, linear algebra, feedback control, estimation / filtering / detection, or similar
  • Experience in software development using Agile / Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with common SW tasking and review tools including Jenkins / Bambo, Jira, and Git.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of modern GPS concepts including signal selection, acquisition and tracking, Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) calculation, data demodulation, signal correction, jamming and spoofing.
  • Experience with development or analysis of navigation, anti-spoofing cryptographic systems, or signal processing related to GPS systems.
  • Experience in architecting, developing, and integrating real time embedded software for GPS user equipment, including on target Hardware.
  • Prior experience with real-time embedded operating systems or Modular Open Source (MOSA) software development.
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related toolchains.
  • Familiar with Defense industry typical documentation and milestone reviews.
  • Work is performed on-site in Yorba Linda, with 4/10 schedule preferred.  Additional work schedules of 5/8 or 9/80 are also considered.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $111,500.00 - $207,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
