Job Description:
The L3Harris Imaging Division in Wilmington, MA is an industry leader in the design and production of space based optical telescopes for small satellites. This business has produced and continues to produce optical systems for many customers in both the commercial and military markets, as well as NASA. One such NASA program supported by this business was New Horizons. Imaging Division Wilmington designed and built the telescope which snapped the first close pictures of Pluto (https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/newhorizons/images/index.html). There are many other interesting programs that this business has supported and continues supporting!
The Production Planning organization is looking for an individual who can effectively bridge gaps and solve operational problems, in support of meeting customer commitments. In this position, the candidate will plan, schedule, coordinate and/or monitor final approval of products through the complete production cycle to meet production requirements. Works from engineering plans and production specifications to ensure materials are provided according to schedule. Advises management of the status of work in progress, coordinates with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain and interfaces with engineering and operations program management. Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments. Communicates labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, maintain, and analyze manufacturing build plans (Operations Execution Schedules) to meet customer contractual delivery schedules
- Coordinate with internal suppliers, such as Material Management and Design Engineering to ensure material and labor is available to meet internal and external customer commitments.
- Work with Materials Planners to proactively manage the schedule and material dock dates to ensure accuracy of planning
- Measure success and failure to the plan, communicate status to program and management.
- Develop unique solutions to manufacturing problems by working closely with other Operations functions including Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and technical personnel on other programs.
- Coordinate with manufacturing shared services to manage internal value add/work in process parts.
- Support timely analysis and implementation on Engineering Change Orders.
- Utilize ERP data to identify potential schedule and/or data integrity problems along with metric based performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain a secret or top-secret clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge and/or experience in scheduling or supply chain planning preferred.
- APICS, Lean, and Six Sigma training.
- Strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data.
- Knowledge and/or experience with Microsoft Project, or similar project management scheduling software.
- Experience with ERP implementations and/or Cincom Control and Agile/PDM systems.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment as an ops manager, production planner, or manufacturing engineer.
- Possess strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and communicate cross-functionally.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $77,500 - $144,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
