Job Description:

The position offered involves working with thermal vacuum and environmental testing of components, sub-assemblies, and systems of space flight and airborne missions.  This role will lead the support the manufacturing and operations groups in the process flow of the programs and schedules.  The candidate will be involved in the set-up and programming of thermal, high vacuum, and environmental chambers.  This position will require flexible hours at times to meet 24/7 hardware production requirements.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Lead the day-to-day expectations of our Vacuum Bake Out and Thermal Test Equipment
  • Support program needs by scheduling workflow for Vacuum Bake Out and Thermal cycles and helping direct the team to carry out the schedule.
  • Provide support for assembly, integration, and testing of aerospace hardware
  • Willing to schedule and support shifts covering a 24/7 shift coverage during strategic testing (when applicable)
  • Ability to execute test procedures with appropriate level of documentation
  • Willing to work in a chemical lab to perform FTIR spectroscopy work
  • Continues to monitor and review in situation test data to determine specification compliance and acceptance criteria
  • Familiarity with data acquisition monitoring and controls, liquid nitrogen systems, high vacuum chambers and pumping systems, Cryo-Pumps, Cryo-compressors, Turbo pumps, Roughing Pumps, Pneumatic Gate valves, Cryogenic Systems, Helium leak checking
  • Must be detail orientated to accurately perform test set-up to maintain program schedules
  • Must be able to assist multiple functions across the organizational team structure

 

Qualifications: 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to move and facilitate test racks and test equipment to support set-ups in a variety of work platform environments
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment during test configuration and execution
  • Thermal testing experience
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance and calibration requirements
  • Working knowledge to the sensitivity of moving and handling optical and ESD components
  • Willing to support overtime, shift work or extended shifts, weekends, or holidays as necessary
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and as a self-starter
  • Experience working on system level spaceflight hardware
  • Familiarity with data acquisition monitoring and controls, liquid nitrogen systems, high vacuum chambers and pumping systems, Cryo-Pumps, Cryo-compressors, Turbo pumps, Roughing Pumps, Pneumatic Gate valves, Cryogenic Systems, Helium leak checking
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and program requirements
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute in an aerospace / ground flight production environment

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $73,000 - $135,000.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
