Job Description:

This requisition is for the Business Development (BD) Director of the Space Superiority and Imaging (SSI) Division's Agile EO (AEO) Business Area, which provides advanced EO/IR payloads to Title 10 and Title 50 clients for space-based Intelligence and Space Control missions. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior Business Area leaders and various teams to meet division financial goals. This includes engaging with customers, identifying business opportunities, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives. Reporting to the SSI Division BD Director, the candidate will develop and implement strategic plans to secure wins in key markets. Success requires regular interactions with U.S. Government customers and the creation of internal documentation that follows L3Harris procedures. The BD Director will also oversee a team of BD and Capture Managers to execute the strategic plan and identify opportunities in the EO/IR Space-based Remote Sensing market.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Leading the BD Team for AEO and in partnership with SSI Division leadership, the successful candidate will: 
  • Lead the development of strategic campaigns for SSI/AEO, driving initiatives that target new business growth in Space-based Remote Sensing missions for core T10 and T50 customers.  Act as a liaison to SSI Division growth initiatives, advocating for the interests of the AEO BA.
  • Lead AEO BD and Capture team processes in alignment with L3Harris Stage/Gate process, ultimately developing an opportunity pipeline with the objective of achieving annual BA financial objectives.  Assist capture teams by providing competitive assessments and crafting win strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with partners, consultants, and subcontractors to gain insights and forge alliances that position L3Harris for capturing emerging opportunities. Scout for new markets, untapped needs, and potential pursuits or campaigns relevant to the AEO BA.
  • Manage annual discretionary budget to conduct all BD and Capture activities to achieve BA financial objectives.
  • Support the collection and analysis of competitive intelligence to deepen L3Harris's understanding of customer needs and competitor strategies. Aid in the analysis of Government and Customer Budget data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Provide supervisory support to BD and Capture Manager direct reports including timecard and vacation approvals, Performance Management reviews, Career Development planning, periodic 1:1s.
  • Promote a culture of business acumen that adopts a strategic and proactive stance in aiding business area leaders to identify, actively chase, and secure new contracts.
  • Represent L3Harris Corporation at customer meetings, Industry related meetings and conferences. Collaborate with related functions to advance business pursuits and advocacy including marketing, communications, government relations, business development leaders, and capture teams.
  • Ability to Travel – up to 25%
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • 10+ years experience in Business Development or Capture Management for T10 & T50 EO/IR payloads or space vehicles.
  • Active DoD/DoW Secret Security Clearance
  • Professional experience engaging with leaders at relevant government agencies, major prime contractors, small and new-space companies
  • Professional experience managing or directing a team to build a portfolio pipeline and achieve annual financial targets.
  • Prior or current professional experience coaching, mentoring, and teaching junior through mid-level BD and Capture personnel
  • Professional experience working with competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Preferred Clearance: DoW Top Secret with SCI / SAP
  • Be adept in integrating customer insights into capture strategies to align with their mission needs and L3Harris core capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex technical details of products and technologies into clear, customer-friendly communications for engagement purposes.
  • Experience developing, implementing and managing campaign strategies in line with business capture plans.
  • Experience leading and supporting the business acquisition process through milestone and gate reviews, covering stages from opportunity identification to proposal submission.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical experts to define R&D projects that anticipate future trends and provide innovative solutions to customer challenges.
  • Must work independently under limited supervision
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Disciplined, self-starting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight
  • Proven ability to achieve financial objectives in a Business Development or Capture Manager capacity

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $175,000.00 - $325,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
