We are excited to invite applications for a Senior Specialist, Subcontracts to join our team in West Palm Beach, FL. This is a great opportunity to play a critical role in supporting defense and aerospace programs that make a meaningful impact.In this role, you will lead complex subcontract procurement activities for specialized materials, equipment, and services, ensuring success across cost, schedule, technical, and performance requirements. You will own the full subcontract lifecycle — from acquisition strategy and solicitation through proposal evaluation, negotiation, award, post-award administration, and closeout — while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and business requirements.As a key subcontracts subject matter expert, you will manage high-value, high-risk subcontracting efforts that directly influence program execution and customer commitments. You will also collaborate with program management, contracts, engineering, quality, finance, supply chain, and legal to develop smart subcontracting strategies, solve complex supplier challenges, reduce risk, and drive strong business results.If you are looking for an opportunity to bring your expertise to a mission-focused team in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment, this role offers the chance to contribute to critical programs and help shape successful outcomes. Essential Functions:

 

  • Leads subcontract activities for complex and specialized materials, equipment, and services in support of defense and aerospace programs.
  • Develops and executes subcontract strategies aligned with program objectives, customer requirements, compliance obligations, and business goals.
  • Prepares and reviews subcontract specifications, statements of work, sourcing plans, bid packages, and terms and conditions for complex procurements.
  • Leads supplier solicitation activities, conducts bidders’ conferences, manages proposal receipt and evaluation, and supports source selection decisions.
  • Performs detailed cost analysis, price analysis, and overall proposal evaluation based on technical, schedule, financial, and performance considerations.
  • Leads negotiations for subcontract pricing, terms and conditions, schedule commitments, risk allocation, and other business provisions within delegated authority.
  • Issues subcontract awards and administers subcontracts through the full lifecycle, including performance management, funding actions, modifications, claims support, and closeout.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates subcontractor risk, including financial, technical, schedule, quality, and execution risk.
  • Resolves complex subcontract issues and develops mitigation or recovery plans in coordination with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Provides subcontract guidance and strategic support to program teams, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, contractual obligations, and program schedules.
  • Ensures subcontract files, documentation, systems, and records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Interprets and applies FAR, DFARS, customer flow-downs, and company policies to subcontract actions and supplier management activities.
  • Supports fact-finding, audit activity, internal reviews, and compliance assessments related to subcontracting activity.
  • Drives continuous improvement of subcontract policies, procedures, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and business performance.
  • May serve as a mentor, trainer, or informal leader to less experienced subcontracts professionals.
  • May lead cross-functional initiatives or represent the subcontracts function on program reviews, management reviews, and customer-facing discussions.
  • May sign supplier agreements and purchase orders within delegated authority.
  • Travel up to 25% may be required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant subcontacts experience; or a Graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related subcontacts experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related subcontracts experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other government contracting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and subcontract flow-down requirements.
  • Experience developing statements of work, requests for proposal, and subcontract terms and conditions for complex materials, hardware, software, or services.
  • Familiarity with cost analysis, price analysis, negotiation strategy development, and subcontractor risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience administering cost-reimbursement, fixed-price, time-and-materials, and other subcontract types.
  • Experience managing complex subcontract modifications, change activity, funding actions, and supplier. performance issues.
  • Working knowledge of export compliance considerations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, CPSR-related activity, or internal control requirements.
