Job Description:
The WPB Assembly team is seeking multiple highly motivated Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Engineers to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing success. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing assembly processes and methods to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, production, and quality assurance, to identify and resolve process-related issues, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes and methods to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Follow complex assembly/builds to ensure proper functionality during product’s operational use. Must be able to understand form, fit, and function of complex turbo-machinery.
- Identify and resolve process-related issues through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Operations Program Integrators and Assembly team to ensure complex assemblies are delivered on time.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Analyze and optimize production workflows, layouts, and equipment to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Proficient in tool design with the responsibility to evaluate and recommend new technologies, tooling/fixturing, and equipment to enhance manufacturing and assembly capabilities.
- Provide training and support to production staff on new processes and equipment.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all manufacturing activities.
- Lead continuous improvement projects using lean and Six Sigma tools
- Collaborate with design, engineering, quality and production teams to ensure manufacturability and streamline new product introductions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5 years of direct experience in the Assembly of RL10/RS25 rocket engines
- Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Assembly processes, methods, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
