Job Description: 

The Project Engineer Lead for Supplier Hardware Delivery will oversee and manage the delivery of critical hardware components for RS-25 Turbomachinery. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our suppliers meet technical specifications, deadlines, and quality standards required for the RS-25 engine program. The Project Engineer Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality assurance, and supply chain, to guarantee hardware success from conception through delivery.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate technical efforts with suppliers to ensure successful delivery of hardware components.
  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of hardware to meet project milestones.
  • Supplier Engagement: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure clear communication and understanding of requirements.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical oversight and support to suppliers, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with hardware delivery throughout the supply chain.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all delivered hardware meets strict quality and reliability standards; coordinate with the QA team for inspections and audits.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of supplier progress, issues, and resolutions; provide regular status reports to senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve delivery timelines.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field  preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field preferred  
  • In depth knowledge of procurement, ERP, and supplier coordination.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of hardware fabrication, GD&T, dimensional inspection techniques, and Non-destructive testing (FPI, X-ray, etc.).
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery operation.
  • Experience with creating and managing integrated master schedules.
  • Experience with Material Review for nonconforming hardware. 
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of turbomachinery components and engine requirements.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of effectively interfacing with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
