Job Description:
L3Harris in West Palm Beach (Jupiter) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional to join our team, contributing to both the environmental and safety programs. In this pivotal role, you'll directly contribute to the well-being of our employees, the protection of the environment, and the success of our innovative aerospace and defense projects.
The Environment, Health and Safety Specialist will have a strong background in environmental compliance and will be responsible for a variety of environmental programs, such as air emissions, industrial wastewater discharge, storm water pollution prevention, RCRA compliance, and SPCC compliance.
The candidate will oversee and audit all aspects of these programs to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations, and will work with EHS management to implement best practices within the enterprise’s comprehensive EH&S management system. The candidate will also assist with safety and health program compliance, performing approximately 70% environmental and 30% safety duties.
Essential Functions:
- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal EHS codes and regulations
- Conduct area inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies
- Conduct environmental, health and safety incident investigations, evaluations, and analysis of data to identify methodologies for continuous improvement for prevention of employee injuries/illnesses and environmental releases.
- Perform professional work in the research, compilation, analysis and presentation of EHS data
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of environmental permits.
- Prepare a variety of technical reports, graphs and charts, and maintain accurate records and files
- Address groups and conduct EHS trainings and meetings
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and governmental agencies
- Interpret codes and standards
- Use various computer systems to develop environmental statistics for the purpose of monitoring trends and establishing appropriate corrective actions
- Prepare Power Point presentations for training and communication purposes
- Operate effectively in a team environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 4+ years of experience within an environmental role preferred
- B.S. degree in an environmental discipline
- Familiarity with the Benchmark Gensuite software application
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands
