Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Associate Manger of Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) to serve as a quality leader for our Quality Inspection team at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment’s location in West Palm Beach, FL. The site is a center of excellence for large liquid rocket engine design, fabrication, assembly, and test. This position is responsible for leading a team of approximately 15 hourly direct reports.
This position is responsible for leading a team of approximately 15 product inspectors within the Q&MA Product Acceptance organization. The Q&MA Product Acceptance team ensures delivered products conform to contractual and L3Harris requirements for product quality. They ensure adherence to and compliance with established quality policies, practices, and government regulations. This includes implementation of quality and efficiency process improvement initiatives that will directly impact the successful zero-defect, on-time delivery of products.
Essential Functions:
- Manage a team of inspectors supporting various inspection efforts, including receiving inspection, in-process assembly & test inspection, and clean process verification.
- Guide team to resolve technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution.
- Promote a strong culture of quality focused on the engagement of every employee, with adherence to personal stamp warranty, workmanship fundamentals, and attention to detail in the prevention of defects.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality factory management peers, and Quality and Manufacturing Engineering technical support resources to resolve hardware constraints
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures, customer requirements and government standards.
- Measure, monitor, and take action to ensure quality-focused key performance indicator targets are achieved or exceeded.
- Partner with Leadership in maintaining certification and compliance efforts for AS9100 and other required certifications.
- Support identification of needed capital investment to support business need (including quality process capacity, capabilities, & technologies).
- Lead and execute process improvement projects base on Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related quality experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills associated with manufacturing and/or inspection of aerospace products.
- Requires management and leadership knowledge in a Quality or Manufacturing role.
- Experience directly managing a Quality Inspection or Quality Organization in an Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and/or other quality standards.
- Direct experience with fabrication, assembly, test, and inspection processes commonly used to produce aerospace components and sub-assemblies.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
