Primary Responsibilities
This role is a Quality Systems contact person to Operations; focused on quality and reliability of our equipment to ensure product on time delivery. This person is vital to ensure the factory, equipment and machinery are in optimal working condition.
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or calibration on Wescam assets.
- Align calibration and preventative maintenance activities with the manufacturing floor.
- Provide Leadership and support for continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Lead and Support ESD and FOD activities throughout the factory.
- Enter maintenance & calibration documentation into our asset tracker software tool.
- Catalogue new equipment in tracking software prior to release to the shop floor.
- Make certain calibration cycles are scheduled and adhered to ensuring our test equipment does not go overdue.
- Ensure spare parts inventory stock does not deplete.
- Assist in evolving yearly maintenance & calibration plan.
- Manage test equipment repair through asset tracker.
- Identify failure trends & systemic issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Present preventative maintenance and calibration activities at cell sustaining update meeting on monthly basis.
- Create instructions/standard operating procedures to support preventative maintenance and calibration activities.
- Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership.
Desired Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose problems quickly and efficiently.
- Successful implementation of continuous improvement/lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of lean tools such as VSM, 5-whys, process mapping, FPA, SPC, etc.
- Excellent technical communication skills both written and verbal.
- Dynamic, resourceful team member that is known for sense of initiative, urgency and innovation.
- Quick and effective problem solver.
- Must be well organized, goal oriented and able to give attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
- AS9100 knowledge and experience an asset, but not required.
- Lean Green Belt Certification or equivalent industry lean experience an asset, but not required.
- Must have a well-rounded electro-mechanical background with manufacturing engineering experience in a high tech, fast paced environment.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity.
Experience & Education
- Requires practical knowledge of job area.
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience..
*This posting is for a current vacancy. In the province of Ontario, Canada, the pay range for this position will be $76,000 to $96,000.
