About the Role
This role supports the manager of Engineering IT for Canada by providing provide direct embedded support services within our Engineering department services at the WESCAM division. The successful candidate will be a talented, motivated and seasoned Linux Administrator with exceptional customer service skills, is adept at managing and coordinating diverse support demands, and drives towards efficiency and continuous improvement for their customers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Endpoint Management: Maintain and support Linux endpoints (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.), ensuring optimal performance and security in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Automation: Run and potentially develop Ansible playbooks for system provisioning, configuration management, patching and automation tasks.
- Containerization: Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Docker containers to support various applications and services.
- Application: Provide support and administration for Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), ensuring smooth operation and user satisfaction.
- Project: Plan, execute, and manage small upgrade projects, ensuring minimal disruption and efficient implementation.
- Customer Support: Provide excellent customer support, addressing technical issues, and resolving user inquiries promptly and effectively.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and customers, providing clear and concise updates and documentation
Required Capabilities
- Proficiency in Linux endpoint management.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, configuration automation tools (Ansible) and containerization tools (Docker).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) is a plus.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience with Windows Server is a plus.
Desired Education and Experiences
- Requires practical knowledge of job area.
- Minimum of 2 years of prior related experience with Linux operating system.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Knowledge of Ansible or other automation & configuration management systems.
- Knowledge of Docker or other containerization systems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices is desirable.
- Ability to manage small projects from planning to execution.
- Excellent customer support and communication skills.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
