From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro1-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

 

 

About the Role

This is a 16 month co-op term to start May 2026. You will get to work alongside senior Mechanical Engineers, solving complex issues, generating detailed drawings in SolidWorks, conducting in-depth analyses, and recommending solutions for the Mechanical Engineering team.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Provide mechanical design, analysis, and testing support for new and existing products.
  • Generation of drawings and bills of materials.
  • Completing assignments of moderate scope and complexity, usually derived parts of larger projects.
  • Uses a variety of standard engineering methods and defined best practices in solving problems and executing tasks.
  • Assist senior staff in carrying out technical tasks.
  • May contribute to definition of departmental best practices of a clearly defined scope.
  • Participate in design reviews as either a presenter or a reviewer.
  • Supporting the verification and validation of new product designs.
  • Implement changes to documentation, technical drawings, parts and assemblies.
  • Keep in synchronization with mechanical industry trends and new technologies that may be relevant to L3 Wescam’s present and future product development.
  • May involve the design of cabling wire harnesses including developing solutions with electrical engineers, physical routing definition, final drawing generation, and then verification of design in production.

 

Required Capabilities 

  • Some experience with a solid modeling CAD package, SolidWorks preferred.
  • A highly motivated, self-starter.
  • Mechanical aptitude, good hands-on skills.
  • Some mechanical design skills shown through practical course work or experience.
  • Good mathematical and analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.

 

 

Desired Education and Experiences 

  • Enrollment in a Bachelors or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering program
