About the Role

Works closely with leadership and staff to define and execute HR strategies that enable accomplishment of business objectives. Establishes, implements and oversees human resources policies and programs by providing counsel and assistance to employees and management in HR matters.  Facilitates organization and leadership development efforts. Works with employees and managers to address root causes of human resources and employee relations issues. May play a significant role in administering talent management and succession planning activity within client organization. Provides change management leadership. Coordinates employee transfers, status changes, new hire onboarding, conducts exit interviews, and provides recommendations for corrective action. Assists and/or advises management in the formal discipline or termination of employees.  Duties may include advising on matters in compliance with federal and provincial labour legislation.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Operations leadership, providing strategic guidance on talent development, organizational performance, culture, and employee engagement to ensure HR strategies align with business goals and drive organizational performance.
  • Lead and support key talent management processes, including workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, performance management and compensation initiatives.
  • Partner with leaders to design and optimize organizational structures, roles, and talent strategies that support business growth, operational effectiveness, and workforce productivity 
  • Provide expert guidance and coaching to leaders on employee relations matters, performance management, leadership effectiveness, conflict resolution, and employee development, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable labour legislation.
  • Support recruitment efforts by partnering with leaders to identify staffing requirements, develop workforce plans and ensure talent needs are met.
  • Support managers in driving performance through goal-setting, coaching, and feedback processes.
  • Analyze HR metrics, workforce data and organizational trends to identify opportunities and recommend solutions  that improve engagement, retention, productivity and overall business performance.
  • Identify and address issues impacting employee engagement, recommending and implementing solutions to enhance overall employee experience.
  • Build strong relationships with HR centers of excellence and HR Business Partners across organization to ensure alignment and execution  of enterprise wide HR initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and development to managers on leadership development and conflict resolution.
  • Lead and support HR projects, organizational change initiatives, and business transformation efforts, utilizing change management principles and methodologies to drive successful adoption.
  • Partner with leaders to assess organizational effectiveness, including workforce planning, talent utilization, spans and layers, succession readiness, and organizational design opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the health and safety team to promote a culture of safety , support employee well-being initiatives and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

 

 

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • CHRL designation would be an asset.
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner with increasing scope and responsibility, ideally in a matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, influencing, coaching, and consulting skills.
  • Highly adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining focus on safety, compliance, and employee satisfaction.
  • Experience in analyzing trends and metrics
  • High degree of professional integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze and present data effectively.
  • Experience with HR systems such as PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors, or similar platforms.
  • Labour Relations experience an asset
  • Experience supporting Manufacturing / Technical Lab / Operations is preferrable.


 

Education and Experiences Requirements

  • Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area. May have in-depth knowledge of project management
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience

 

 

 

*This posting is for a current vacancy.  In the province of Ontario, Canada, the salary range for this position is $100,000-150,000.
