Essential Responsibilities 

The Manager of Quality Control is responsible for leading inspection operations, ensuring the integrity of all product verification activities, and maintaining compliance with quality standards. This role drives execution excellence across all shifts, ensuring consistent inspection rigor, accurate nonconformance management, and adherence to internal and customer specifications. The Quality Control Manager will build and develop a high-performing quality control team that supports production, service, and new product introduction in achieving quality, cost, and schedule.

  • Oversee and manage all quality inspection activities to ensure compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and optimize job design for the QC team, aligning skills, responsibilities, and inspection coverage to production priorities.
  • Lead the development and succession planning of QC personnel, identifying internal and external talent to support long-term capability growth.
  • Manage daily resource allocation and coverage planning for inspection, MRB, and final release activities across all product lines.
  • Implement effective resource capacity planning and cross-training to align inspection throughput with production/service demand forecast.
  • Ensure consistent communication and shift handover across day, evening, and weekend operations to maintain continuity and control.
  • Accountable for the Material Review Board (MRB) process, ensuring timely disposition of nonconforming materials and coordination with engineering and quality engineering.
  • Enforce accountability for complete and accurate nonconformance (NC) documentation.
  • Support containment and RCCA efforts as part of the cross-functional 8D problem-solving process.
  • Support the Gemba to identify/communicate risks, verify process adherence, and reinforce quality presence on the shop floor.
  • Develop and maintain capability and competence of QC’s to drive cell quality performance analysis
  • Ensure Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and related documentation for shipped product are accurate and compliant with AS9100D and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate and support source inspections and First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with customer and QMS requirements.
  • Analyze Quality Inspection effectiveness to identify and support risk and opportunities within the quality control plans
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support strategic initiatives, including operational excellence, digital transformation, and audit readiness.
  • Accountable to staff completion of compliance and training.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or related technical discipline; equivalent experience in aerospace quality will be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a large inspection team across multiple shifts (day, evening, weekend)
  • ASQ Certification (ex. CQE, CMQ/OE, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience leading MRB processes, managing inspection operations, and enforcing quality accountability
  • Certification or demonstrated expertise in AS9100D Quality Management System standards
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification considered an asset
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and controlled goods program (CGP)

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience implementing inspection planning and digital quality tools within MES/ERP systems
  • Proven record of success in resource planning and staffing optimization for multi-shift operations
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and developing technical staff to meet long-term organizational capability needs
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning initiatives, team management, and emerging issues in a production environment.
