Responsibilities

This role is a primary Service Manufacturing Engineering (ME) contact person to the service ATLAS team; focused on quality and reliability within the cell, in addition to on time delivery and repair turnaround time.  This person is integral to the daily success of the cell team and is responsible for using root-cause analysis tools to resolve issues quickly and completely.

 

  • Responsible for both service and production items within the ATLAS cell
  • Act as a point of contact to the ATLAS cell for assistance in troubleshooting and resolving system level mechanical, electro-mechanical and electro optical manufacturing issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation to support manufacturing changes, including Service processes, Work Instructions and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.
  • Attend and provide responses to daily cell standup meetings.
  • Participate in cell MRB meetings, and required TRB meetings including supporting closure of NCRs and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Support Engineering for NPI projects and stage gates
  • Responsible for the development of processes and procedures for WESCAM products.  This includes the creation of PFMEA, SPC, First Pass Approval (FPA), control plans, tooling and test procedures. 
  • Reviewing change requests generated by engineering and service staff for impact to process, product flow, product quality and documentation, and implement changes as required.
  • Leadership and support for continuous improvement initiatives and projects. 
  • Conduct 8D root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Working in partnership with the Service Projects ME to identify waste in the ATLAS process such as motion, waiting, etc. and support creating data driven improvements utilizing Lean tools such as RCCA, 5S, Value Steam Mapping (VSM), etc.
  • Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership.

Desired Skills:

  • Manufacturing Engineering experience in a high tech assembly environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Systems, Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing and Process Engineering.
  • Technical communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Able to troubleshoot and “real-time" problem solve manufacturing issues.
  • Must be well organized, goal oriented and able to give attention to detail.
  • Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization.
  • Able to read and understand Mechanical drawings and Electrical schematics.
  • AS9100 knowledge and experience an asset, but not required.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD an asset, but not required. 
  • Green Belt Certification or equivalent industry lean experience an asset, but not required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) an asset, but not required.
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng) an asset, but not required.

 

Experience & Education Requirements

  • University degree; or 3-year College diploma coupled with relevant work experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
