Job Description:

As a key leader, you will take over the western hemisphere IT team, providing guidance, management, and coaching to maximize team performance and drive a significant transformation project to success. Your focus will be on achieving seamless and efficient IT operations, prioritizing the security, resilience, and integrity of the IT infrastructure. Success is defined by the successful implementation of the transformation project, achieving industry-standard customer satisfaction, fostering a cohesive and high-performing IT team, and ensuring cybersecurity audits yield clean results. Joining at a pivotal moment, you'll help enhance governance, build trust, and strengthen the operational foundation amidst substantial personnel and capital investments. The company has around 150 employees, primarily software engineers and researchers, with plans to expand the IT team currently composed of six members. Initially managing direct reports, you are expected to grow the team within the year.


Essential Functions:

  • Align IT services with business demands, address issues promptly, and oversee incident management.
  • Analyze and solve complex technological challenges, protecting the IT infrastructure from cyberattacks.
  • Communicate and reinforce business objectives, simplifying technical issues for senior leadership.
  • Promote quality, continuous improvement, and accountability within the IT team.
  • Represent the IT team to the workforce and stakeholders, and develop projects supporting business objectives.
  • Collaborate with peers for coordinated objectives, and engage with vendors for contract negotiations.
  • Communicate vision and strategy, manage recruitment, succession planning, and performance.
  • Provide employee support and care, and oversee leave, expenses, travel, and training logistics.
  • International and domestic travel flexibility (up to 25%).
  • Located primarily in downtown Washington, DC, with hybrid in-office work (25-50% in-office).
  • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Proven expertise in technical and personnel management.
  • Deep knowledge in Linux server environments, network appliances (Junos OS, DNOS, Cisco iOS), and network design (Ethernet, VLAN, OSPF, BGP, etc.).
  • Experience with VPNs (IPSec, Wireguard, OpenVPN), network attached storage (TrueNAS, NetApp, Dell PowerStore), virtualization (VMWare), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Skilled in deployment/automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash) and AWS services (ec2, s3, lambda, etc.).
  • Familiarity with developer tools (Gitlab, Artifactory, Atlassian Tools) and desktop/mobile environments (Linux, MacOS, Windows, iOS, Android).
  • Proficient in endpoint and system health monitoring tools (XDR, SIEM, Prometheus/Grafana, SNMP).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proactive in anticipating and resolving customer needs.
  • Excellent communication and resilience in high-pressure situations.
  • Relevant degree with 10+ years of professional experience, including leading teams through organizational change and developing multi-year technology strategies.
  • Eligibility for a security clearance (current clearance is a plus).
  • Experience designing constrained IT solutions in the US Defense Industrial Base or US Intelligence Community.
  • Strong risk management and governance orientation.
  • Confidence and decisiveness in periods of change.



In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Washington D.C. is $116,500 to $216,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
