Job Description:
The Technical Writer (Illustrator) Specialist is responsible for generating technical illustrations based on engineering models in support of avionic modification technical manuals. Illustrations are generated in accordance with project standards utilizing Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and NX to manipulate engineering models based on technical write-ups. The Technical Publications team is a group of professionals committed to providing quality and timely publication deliverables for commercial and government projects in a dynamic environment.
Essential Functions:
- Develop a variety of graphics types to support operation, maintenance, repair, and user/installation manuals for a variety of avionic modification products.
- Create new product illustrations based on mechanical/engineering drawings and modify existing graphics using Adobe Creative Suite products and CAD Software.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements.
- Ensure that all illustrations adhere to project standards and industry best practices.
- Work closely with the management team to stay updated on project budgets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- May manage projects or processes with general supervision.
- Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.
- Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
- Advanced proficiency in using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and CAD Software. (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX)
- Proficiency in manipulating 3D models.
- Familiarity with DoD and/or FAA standards and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Understanding technical concepts and ability to analyze engineering drawings.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of technical illustration experience in developing a variety of graphics to support operation, maintenance, repair, and user/installation manuals in an aerospace-driven environment or within the defense industry.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of technical illustration experience in developing a variety of graphics to support operation, maintenance, repair, and user/installation manuals in an aerospace-driven environment or within the defense industry.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of technical illustration experience in developing a variety of graphics to support operation, maintenance, repair, and user/installation manuals in an aerospace-driven environment or within the defense industry.
- Must have an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire.
- Must be a US Citizen.
