Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking for a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer for our onsite facility located in Waco, TX. We offer competitive benefits and a generous relocation package for those who qualify.
The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will perform mechanical system design/analysis and provide test (ground and flight) support for fixed wing and rotary aircraft to demonstrate system performance.
Essential Functions:
- Perform thermal/fluid system analysis, serving as the L3Harris Waco Site subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of aircraft Mechanical Systems
- Lead the mechanical systems team, assigning tasks, reviewing analyses and reports, and mentoring less experienced teammates
- Support proposal efforts with estimation of labor and material costs
- Present mechanical systems analysis/design during customer design reviews
- Planning, support, and execution of mechanical systems testing
- Work with product design team to develop effective mechanical systems solutions
- Planning and support of ground and flight tests
- Flight test data collection and reduction
Qualifications:
- BSME, BSAE, BSCE and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Strong understanding of Thermal/Fluid System modeling theory is required.
- Experience in developing system requirements, technical specifications, statements of work, analysis reports, test procedures, and test reports
- Experience in developing aircraft mechanical systems architecture and selecting system components
- Experience with earned value management systems
- Must be able to travel as necessary.
- Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, and have general computer knowledge.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
