Job Description:
The Electrical Engineering Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Aerospace Engineering and will manage/direct the day-to-day operations of a Electrical Engineering Team (approximate group size of 8). The group is responsible for design and integration for aircraft systems. Responsibilities include the design and liaison of using military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents using CAD. Must be experienced in engineering drawing preparation and interpretation as well as provide leadership review of designs/drawings. The group is primarily responsible for the design and liaison activities related to the aircraft electrical wiring interconnect systems (EWIS), including those associated with electrical racks and external antennas.
The role is responsible for job assignments, manpower estimates, project and engineering status, project bid support, employee training, goals and reviews, and management of overhead budgets. The role is also responsible for ensuring compliance to company processes relating to designs and those processes are periodically reviewed for improvement or currency. The manager sets the highest ethical standards for self and others, commits to Continuous Improvement initiatives and drives positive change throughout the group.
Essential Functions:
- Planning, scheduling, and budgeting tasks for the team.
- Design and liaison of aircraft systems utilizing military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents utilizing CAD.
- Provide liaison to production and manufacturing for interpretation of engineering design/drawings.
- Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or similar with minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Must have experience with and electrical datadriven ECAD software.
- Must have knowledge of electrical design principles of aircraft systems.
- Must have experience with electronic equipment and antenna installations.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Security Clearance.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Must be able to travel as required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to coach, train, motivate and manage technical personnel.
- Sound knowledge of engineering theory, design criteria and complex activities.
- Experience as an Electrical Engineer design & analyst in the military and commercial aircraft industry.
- Ability to manage complex activities; ability to meet program objectives within contract cost and schedule requirements.
- Sound effective listening skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
