Job Description:
The Associate Manager, Technical Writing position is responsible for the management and oversight of the daily activities of a team of publications specialists. The successful candidate will act as L3Harris technical interface to the customer and program management. The Associate Manager, Technical Writer, will provide direction, guidance, and mentoring direct reports on the development and delivery of publications products. This position will require knowledge of the types of publications required to support operations and/or maintenance of military and commercial aircraft and associated system.
Essential Functions:
- Authoring, setting up, and/or managing technical publications in a S1000D/XML/Structured FrameMaker environment for Air Force, Army, or Navy programs.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Able to lead a Team to include mentoring, training, personnel functions, etc.
- Collection and usage of Metrics.
- Responsible for staffing to include forecasting, CAM duties and hiring.
- Developing, monitoring, analyzing and acting based on team operational metrics.
- Support for business development includes estimating as well as writing of subcontractor specs and statements of work, RFI/RFP responses and proposals.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office programs).
- Creating content in a structured authoring environment.
- Working knowledge of S1000D, ATA100, ATA iSpec 2200, MIL-PRF-38807C, and MIL-STD-37874.
- Technical publication authoring experience within structured authoring environments (S1000D, Non-S1000D XML, SGML, and/or Structured FrameMaker).
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with six (6) years prior experience authoring, setting up, and/or managing technical publications in a S1000D/XML/Structured FrameMaker environment for Air Force, Army, or Navy programs.
- Graduate Degree with four (4) years of prior experience authoring, setting up, and/or managing technical publications in a S1000D/XML/Structured FrameMaker environment for Air Force, Army, or Navy programs.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of ten (10) years of prior experience authoring, setting up, and/or managing technical publications in a S1000D/XML/Structured FrameMaker environment for Air Force, Army, or Navy programs.
- Must have an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire.
- Must be a US Citizen.

- Active Secret Clearance.
