Job Description:

The Aircraft Mechanic position will be responsible for performing mechanical and structural installs, aircraft inspections or repairs. The selected candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the tools required to perform this job function, familiarity with general industry standards on quality expectations, and the ability to proficiently self-inspect completed work. The aircraft mechanic will need extensive knowledge of Sheetmetal principals and techniques and a thorough understanding of aircraft drawings and maintenance manuals.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Working from drawings, blueprints, sketches, written procedures, planned work orders, technical work orders, work cards and/or any other authorized reference material as required to complete assigned work.
  • Performing mechanical and structural installs, aircraft inspections or repairs, sometimes in confined spaces.
  • Use of company computer systems for work documentation and retrieval of production related documents.
  • Ability to frequent move of heavy equipment.
  • Flight Control Removal or Installs, Engine Removal and/or Installs, Aircraft Inspections, any removal and installs of heavy structure parts and components, performing drill up and fastener installation, all in accordance with drawings, tech manuals or other written instructions.
  • Willingness to learn, ability to comply with written policies, procedures and other instructions.
  • Familiar with the tools required to perform this job function.
  • Knowledge of general industry standards on quality expectations and ability to proficiently self-inspect completed work.
  • Well versed in Sheetmetal principals and techniques.
  • Ability and willingness to train and mentor lower-level technicians.
  • General knowledge of military aircraft FOD and Tool Control requirements.
  • Certified to operate self-propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts and aircraft tow vehicles.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.
  • Willing and able to work overtime, any shift, and weekends as required to meet company objectives.
  • Assembly of close tolerance part using hand tools such as pneumatic drills and rivet guns.
  • Must provide your own requisite basic tools prior to starting to work; tool list will be provided. Tools must be shadowed and engraved, L3Harris will provide the material to complete this task once hired.
  • Ability to obtain forklift, scissor lifts, boom lift, and aircraft tow vehicles certification.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior aircraft maintenance and aircraft structures assembly experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior aircraft maintenance and aircraft structures assembly experience. Completion of Airframe and Power plant schooling will be taken into consideration.
  • Ability to pass a flight line physical.
  • Minimum 8 years sheet metal and structural aircraft modification experience
  • Minimum 8 years experience reading and interpreting aircraft drawings
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • P8 or P3 Periodic Scheduled Maintenance or Depot level maintenance or modification experience.
  • Forklift Certification.
