Job Summary:
An A Level Sheetmetal Mechanic is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal products and equipment. This role requires a high level of skill in reading blueprints, measuring, cutting, bending, and forming sheet metal to precise specifications. The mechanic must ensure that all work meets industry standards and safety regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Fabrication and Assembly:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine the sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
- Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery.
- Assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery safely and effectively.
Installation and Repair:
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing sheet metal installations.
- Inspect assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, and micrometers.
Quality Control:
- Ensure that all fabricated and installed components meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct final inspections and make necessary adjustments or repairs to ensure proper fit and function.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time, materials, and equipment used.
- Report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 6 months experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
