Job Description:   

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Sr Specialist System Administrator to join our Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in managing, troubleshooting, installing, and optimizing facility systems software and networks for both office and specialized industrial systems. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong acumen for working independently or with a small team in a highly dynamic environment. The candidate must have a proven track record of designing and implementing solutions that comply with security policies, maintaining a secure and resilient IT environment.

Essential Functions: 

  • Configure, monitor, maintain, administer, and troubleshoot the following integrated industrial facility systems:
    • Wired and wireless networks including switches, routers, servers, clients, and firewalls
    • Office computers and Avaya IP phone system with voicemail
    • Intercom/paging system
    • Building Automation System (server, clients, and networked devices) to include integration/networking of new components, facility controls, and alarm notifications
    • Facility applications such as maintenance work order systems, weather monitoring systems, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and file systems
    • Closed Circuit TV Systems and Video Recorders
    • Security access control and alarm systems
    • Networked facility monitoring equipment such as Particle Counters
    • Networked operational voice system server, clients, and transport
  • Oversee the integration and performance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) systems to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations
  • Deploy and maintain infrastructure by using tools such as VMware.
  • Interface with Customers, suppliers, and government entities to accomplish business objectives
  • Implement and maintain security controls in compliance with DoD security frameworks and RMF requirements.
  • Customize, optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise-level applications.
  • Perform security administration in support of RMF requirements and integrate RMF principles into ground-up builds.
  • Utilize Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), agile system development, and DevSecOps tools and processes.
  • Support hardware/software requirement verification and system validation.
  • Utilize virtualization technologies (KVM), backup technologies (NAS, SAN, iSCSI, SAS), and microservices/containers (e.g., Docker).
  • Communicate articulately and clearly both internally and externally on system status, on-going project status, and troubleshooting/investigation findings
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems.
  • Conduct analyses at all levels of total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Work to achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results.
  • Contribute to the development of goals for the department and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans).

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+).
  • Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI-eligible clearance preferred

Preferred Additional Skills: 

  • Supporting DoD & IC Government customers.
  • Utilizing virtualization technologies and backup solutions.
  • Managing and growing in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Working independently with little oversight

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $104,500 - $193,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
