Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies currently has an opening for an Orbital Analyst at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), CA, supporting the Advanced Tracking & Launch Analysis System (ATLAS). Support for ATLAS will include performing satellite space situational awareness (SSA) activities as an orbital analyst, operating orbit determination and satellite characterization systems utilizing data from a variety of phenomenologies. It will also include supporting ATLAS users in performing ATLAS functions, maintaining an understanding of ATLAS operations and any issues impeding operations, and identifying and resolving issues with the ATLAS system in coordination with ATLAS engineering teams and other stakeholders. Essential Functions:
- Conduct satellite space situational awareness (SSA) activities as an orbital analyst, operating orbit determination and satellite characterization systems utilizing data from a variety of phenomenologies (e.g., radar, passive RF, optical, etc.).
- Support ATLAS users in performing ATLAS functions.
- Maintain an understanding of ATLAS operations / status and identify system issues impeding ATLAS operations or user functions.
- Support the resolution of integrated system issues in coordination with key stakeholders, applying cross-system expertise (e.g., ATLAS, message broker service, Data as a Service (DaaS), Platform / infrastructure, data sources, etc.) to assess impacts and conduct root cause analysis for issues impacting ATLAS operations.
- Coordinate with the ATLAS System Operations (SysOps) team and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on trouble tickets and all other issues related to ATLAS operations to ensure that issues with ATLAS functionality are being addressed in accordance with the operational unit’s and the ATLAS program’s priorities.
- When needed, provide on-call (4-hour recall) support to assess ATLAS issues for cause and operational impact to inform key government decisions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Active TS/SCI Clearance required.
- Experience with Spacecraft Operations/Orbit Analysis.
- Knowledge of ephemeris and orbit determination.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CAVENet and Astrodynamic Support Workstation (ASW).
- Experience with SPADOC.
- Experience with STK/Astrogator and Astrodynamics Standards.
- Experience of Space Domain Awareness mission.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $125,00 - $232,000.
