Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the architecture, design, integration, testing, and production support of complex electrical and electro-mechanical systems involving electronics packaging, sensor integration, robotics, tooling, and high-reliability hardware. This role combines deep electrical engineering expertise with team leadership responsibilities and requires a subject matter expert who can drive projects from concept through production while supervising and developing engineering talent.

The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional efforts across electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, test, and industrial design teams to deliver tightly integrated solutions for advanced products and systems. Responsibilities include electrical system architecture; PCB and flex PCB design oversight; power, signal, and interconnect definition; sensor and detector integration; EMI/EMC compliance; grounding and shielding strategies; electrical test planning; hardware troubleshooting; and design-for-manufacture-and-assembly (DFMA). This role also supports prototype builds, test equipment and fixture development, assembly procedures, subsystem validation, root cause investigation, and sustaining engineering improvements.

In addition to technical execution, this position requires leadership of a team of electrical and electro-mechanical engineers, including workforce planning, performance management, coaching, career development, resource balancing, and driving process excellence. The candidate must be comfortable providing technical direction, preparing cost and schedule estimates, supporting design reviews, managing project execution across the engineering lifecycle, and engaging with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the design and integration of electrical systems, electronics packaging, sensor systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Define and oversee PCB/flex PCB architecture, power distribution, signal integrity, grounding, shielding, harnessing, connectors, and interconnect solutions
  • Develop robust electrical designs that account for EMI/EMC, shock and vibration, thermal constraints, manufacturability, testability, reliability, and serviceability
  • Support integration of sensors, detectors, embedded electronics, control electronics, and high-reliability electrical hardware
  • Design and support electrical test equipment, validation fixtures, interface hardware, and production support tooling
  • Support prototype fabrication, hardware bring-up, manufacturing builds, assembly procedures, and production troubleshooting
  • Conduct and oversee electrical performance testing, verification, failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions
  • Partner closely with mechanical engineering, industrial design, firmware, software, and manufacturing teams to manage packaging constraints, interfaces, keep-in/keep-out volumes, and total system integration
  • Lead sustaining engineering activities, including troubleshooting field or production issues and implementing design improvements
  • Drive projects from concept through production, including requirements definition, planning, cost estimation, scheduling, staffing, risk management, and execution tracking
  • Lead preparation for and participation in major technical and program reviews
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers by setting expectations, providing coaching, supporting career growth, and ensuring high technical standards
  • Maintain resource forecasts and ensure staffing aligns with business and program priorities
  • Promote process discipline, continuous improvement, and execution excellence
  • Apply and champion AI-enabled workflow improvements while adhering to responsible and ethical AI practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Current Secret clearance
  • Demonstrated experience with electronics packaging, sensor integration, and tightly integrated electrical/electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience leading projects across the full engineering lifecycle
  • Experience with PCB design, flex PCB integration, interconnects, harnessing, electrical integration, and electronic hardware development
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding and shielding, tolerance/interface definition, and electrical design standards
  • Experience with prototype fabrication, manufacturing processes, hardware validation, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with test planning, data analysis, failure analysis, and root cause investigation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Experience with common engineering and business tools such as Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in robotics, consumer electronics, aerospace, defense, electro-optics, gimballed systems, embedded electronics, or high-reliability hardware
  • Experience with sensor electronics, detector interfaces, motion control systems, and integrated electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Familiarity with electronics packaging for harsh environments, including thermal, vibration, and environmental design considerations
  • Experience with test equipment design and fabrication, hardware verification, and production test support
  • Knowledge of power electronics, mixed-signal design, analog/digital integration, and embedded control systems
  • Experience reading and interpreting product drawings, interface definitions, schematics, and technical requirements
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations, product flow, production processes, SAP, and engineering databases
  • Experience supporting capital projects, facilities planning, or production line development
  • Prior people leadership experience managing engineering teams
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve engineering workflows, efficiency, and quality
