Job Description:
L3Harris is looking to hire a mechanical design engineer to perform design activities in support of developing special-mission/special-purpose aircraft from existing airframes as well as airborne sensor product development.
Essential Functions:
- Mechanical designing activities shall be but not limited to 3D modeling/drafting of aircraft interior and airframe integration components and related tooling/ground support equipment as well as interior monuments, racks, workstations, sensors and LRUs (line replaceable unit) components.
- This position also requires fabrication and installation engineering liaison support as required during these phases of product development.
Qualifications:
- Effectively communicate as part of a multi-disciplinary team working together to ensure that the aircraft systems contribute to the overall success of the program.
- Some working knowledge of the commercial or military airworthiness process
- Requires broad theoretical knowledge. Bachelor’s degree Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 4 years related experience.
- All candidates must be US Citizens and either have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance. Must have good communication skills and be able to work any shift, weekends and overtime, as required. Travel, up to 15%, or as required.
- Through internships, hobbies, or previous work experience they will have demonstrated that they can conceive a design from start to finish.
- Candidates must have well-developed skills using standard MS Office tools as well as some experience using a Solid Modeling CAD program.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Siemens NX, PTC Creo, and Dassault SolidWorks experience is preferred over other CAD programs.
