Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist, Manufacturing Engineering with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement to join our dynamic team. Performs a variety of engineering work in the development, improvement, and testing utilized in the manufacture of switchboards, load cells and panel boards used on naval vessels. The work will include the optimization of current processes targeting increased manufacturing yield and lower labor costs. Emphasis will be in improving efficiencies, focusing on the labor required to perform various processes and implementing manufacturing best practices, including improved technology and automation. Must be able to start and lead projects to their conclusion. The perfect candidate will possess in-depth expertise in Data Analysis, Lean Methodologies, and Project Management, and will be prepared to propel our manufacturing processes to new heights of excellence.
- Lead and implement continuous improvement projects using Six Sigma methodologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform auditing activities for the site following the 6S criteria – Safety, Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process bottlenecks and develop innovative solutions.
- Support quantifying and tracking of completed continuous improvement projects to meet site labor saving goals.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Facilitate and support Kaizen events and other lean initiatives to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for further improvement.
- Mentor and coach team members on continuous improvement techniques and best practices.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technologies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.Presents projects and performance to management teams.
Required Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field) and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in the use of statistical analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and familiarity with ERP systems is preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary, desired
- Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- LabVIEW, CAD experience, automation experience
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification
