Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated AWS Development Engineer to design, build, deploy, and support scalable cloud-based applications and infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud-native development, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices. This role will work closely with software developers, DevOps engineers, security teams, and product stakeholders to deliver reliable and secure cloud solutions.
Essential Functions
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and services on AWS.
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes as they are related to cloud deployments. Will work with the existing DevOps and MLOps team to mature our cloud workflows.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cloud architecture and best practices.
- Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are integrated into AWS solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application deployment, cloud infrastructure, and system performance.
- Support containerized workloads using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical planning sessions.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new AWS services and cloud engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, cloud engineering, or DevOps-related roles.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or Go.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins CI, or AWS Code Pipeline.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud security best practices.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills
- AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, and Route 53.
- Experience with serverless architectures and event-driven design.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Full-stack development experience.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Understanding of cost optimization and performance tuning in AWS environments.
