Job Description:
The Quality Engineer position is within the Operations organization and requires performing Quality Assurance and Inspection functions to support the site and program needs. The Quality Engineer will oversee the quality management system for identified programs, products and processes, including, but not limited to inspections, quality engineering, and audit requirements. This role will report directly into the Quality Manager with a dotted line to the Program Managers.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate in formulating strategic plans for full integration of the Quality Management System (QMS) into program projects and process.
- Accountable for maintaining the QMS to meet ISO 9001 standard and to continually improve the QMS to meet the business needs including compliance to the AS9100D standard.
- Identify opportunities for, and promote, a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Define key performance metrics and drive performance to meet program quality plans and functional department requirements.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100D requirements.
- Plan, develop, and direct our quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with process, product, and service requirements.
- Establish annual personal plans necessary to achieve the goals of the overall strategic plan.
- Ensure personal and program behaviors are aligned with L3Harris mission, vision, values, goals and the overall objectives of the corporation.
- Drive Quality Assurance and ensure quality goals are met.
- Ensure compliance to EH&S and security guidelines.
- Foster collaborative relationships with the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Configuration Management, Engineering, Quality, Program Management and Finance groups.
- Implement corrective/preventative measures to address customer concerns as well as manage and report on the cost of non-conformance.
- Able to self-start and communicate new ideas and process improvements.
- Use thorough and comprehensive knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100D .
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience or Master’s degree and 0-2 years’ experience. In lieu of degree, 4 years of quality related experience.
- Experience quality assurance or military aerospace product.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Secret Clearance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, formulas, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, APICS, or ISM certification.
- SAP MRP system experience.
