Job Description:
· Works autonomously to achieve operational targets within specified job area which impacts overall achievement of the department.
· Responsible for performing the physical or administrative tasks supporting the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.
· Within parameters, determines routing and arrangements for shipments, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost.
· Consults rate schedule for specific rates depending on method of shipment and/or distance shipped.
· Assesses most economical and efficient common or contract carrier, to transport shipments.
· Calculates and records storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges.
· May reroute urgent shipments of an urgent nature or arrange for special delivery at destination.
· Prepares and maintains records of products shipped and tracks shipments.
· Receives incoming materials, unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
· Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications.
· Maintains records of received goods, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents.
· Stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.
· May operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts, etc. upon receipt of internal certification.
· Knowledge of material handling procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
· May perform wood shop functions such as operating power saws and nail guns in building skids and crates.
· Communicates with contacts typically within the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
· Follows established processes to complete tasks.Good verbal and written skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Detailed oriented
· Must be able to lift and carry 32 lbs.This position required to comply with all safety requirements
· Must have knowledge of basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide
· Requires bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, turning, and pushing/pulling of heavy parts, standing or walking 80% of the time, ability to see with or without corrective lenses.
· Requires working overtime as needed.
· Experience with shop floor control along continuous improvement exposure is preferred.
· Must have experience with Shipping: Crating, Bill of Ladings, packaging materials to be shipped, computer skills, forklift experience.
· Experience in Inventory Control: Cycle Counts, pulling job orders, stocking materials.
· Forklift experience to load and unload trucks,
· Experience in receiving materials, understanding the fundamentals of checking materials, verifying counts and able to do inventory transactions.
· Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
Qualifications:
· Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills typically obtained through a combination of education and experience.
· High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of prior inventory/shipping experience.
· 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of one (1) year of prior inventory/shipping experience.
· Must be a US Citizen.
