Job Description:
The Aircraft Maintenance C Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician reports to the Site Manager and provides hands-on maintenance and mission support for powered and non-powered ground support equipment (GSE). The technician troubleshoots, inspects, tests, repairs, overhauls, and operates equipment to determine serviceability and restore proper operation. Supported equipment may include aircraft power carts, aircraft movement vehicles, ground aircraft air conditioners, heaters, and associated accessories and components. The role applies approved technical data, safety procedures, and program and government directives to keep GSE available, safe, and ready to support aircraft operations.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite, shifts, weekends, and extended hours as assigned to support mission requirements.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to interpret commercial, OEM, military, and other technical reference materials used to perform maintenance and repair.
- Ability to move up to 75 pounds and perform the physical activities required for GSE maintenance, including ascending, descending, remaining in stationary position when needed, positions self to maintain ground support equipment, reaching, and moving around ground support equipment, aircraft, etc.
- Constantly working in outdoor weather conditions. The diversity of working conditions both CONUS and OCONUS range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where there are austere conditions and/or inclement weather that may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
Ground Support Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance on powered and non-powered GSE in accordance with approved technical data, operations manuals, safety procedures, and applicable government and program directives.
- Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine serviceability, identify discrepancies, and verify proper operation following maintenance or repair.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults using approved diagnostic methods and equipment, including load banks, impedance bridges, multimeters, flow-meter panels, and other common or specialized test equipment.
- Remove, disassemble, clean, inspect, treat corrosion as required, repair, reassemble, reinstall, and functionally test GSE accessories and components.
- Use common hand tools, special tools, and calibrated test equipment safely and effectively; report defective, out-of-calibration, or unsafe equipment through approved channels.
- Maintain equipment in its approved design configuration and complete required maintenance documentation, inspection records, discrepancy reports, and operational-status updates using approved forms and systems.
Mission and Material Support:
- Coordinate with Site Manager, maintenance personnel, supply, and operations teams to prioritize GSE repairs and return mission-essential equipment to service.
- Support warehouse and material-handling functions, including shipping, receiving, stocking, inventory support, and loading or unloading of parts, equipment, and support materials as required.
- Follow established environmental, safety, corrosion-control, foreign-object-damage, and tool-control procedures; immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, and maintenance discrepancies.
- Perform other assigned duties as required by Management.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 2 years experience maintaining and repairing automotive, aircraft, or ground support equipment, including use of common hand tools and specialized test equipment.
- Current driver's license.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active US Secret security clearance.
- Formal civilian or military technical training in automotive, diesel, heavy-equipment, or GSE maintenance and repair.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Experience maintaining aircraft power units, tow vehicles, air-conditioning units, heaters, hydraulic or pneumatic equipment, and similar aircraft support platforms.
- Experience with corrosion prevention and control, maintenance documentation, supply coordination, tool accountability, and warehouse operations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with maintenance, operations, supply, and program personnel.
