About the Role
The Sr. Associate, Manufacturing Engineering will be the primary technical resource supporting manufacturing engineering related to electrical product issues and tooling for the assembly department in the Wescam, Don Mills facility.
Primary Responsibilities
- Designing and validating simple to complex electrical tooling to support manufacturing.
- Identify, evaluate and source process and/or automated test equipment to improve manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop and maintain new and existing manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment as well as related supporting documentation.
- Provide technical representation between product engineering and manufacturing.
- Lead cross functional team in root cause investigations and corrective actions to address electro-mechanical failures in product testing.
- Participate in MRB reviews in dispositioning of any non-conforming electrical components and motors.
- Work with department supervisors and cross functional cell teams to support manufacturing in achieving KPI targets.
Required Capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication with strong presentation skills.
- Ability to compile complex technical data and communicate clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical personnel.
- Demonstrated skill in problem solving, trouble shooting and RCCA.
- Capable of programming small applications using C# (WPF), Python, Labview, Matlab and/or SQL for data collection and tooling development.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, product specifications and tolerancing.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, soldering techniques, electrical and circuit design software.
- Basic knowledge of optics, lens quality, and related metrology such as autocollimators, interferometers, profilometers and MTF would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
Desired Education and Experiences
- Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics or mechanical engineering, or equivalent Combination of education and experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Comfortable working in a pressured and highly dynamic environment.
- Ability to participate in and/or lead cross functional teams that include production, planning, product engineering, quality and management
- Proven track record of project completion and process improvement implementations.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements is an asset.
