What the role will involve

The Senior Contracts Officer will develop and negotiate contracts working cross functionally to obtain the best possible commercial arrangement without compromising business objectives. Providing L3Harris management and colleagues with professional commercial advice on all aspects of commercial contracts. Manage the complete contracting process from the point of opportunity identification through signature of contracts to contract closure, ensuring L3Harris meets all its customer contractual obligations. In addition, support the drafting of teaming agreements, NDA and other related documents.

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Plan and lead the conduct of commercial negotiations, at both pre and post tender stages, working as part of the multi-disciplined team.
  • Provide contract management to support customer project delivery and associated contractual changes, minimizing short- and long-term business risks
  • Working with subcontract management, identifying key dependencies to ensure subcontractors/suppliers flowdowns are in line with the project delivery
  • Provide support and guidance to the other members of the commercial team to assist in their development and understanding of the commercial and contractual risk.
  • Maintain a close understanding of business strategy focusing on commercial approach.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the commercial department processes ensuring best practice.
  • Contribute as necessary to the continuous improvement of L3Harris standard contracts processes.
  • Proactively support company compliance to the Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company policies, processes and practices.
  • Ensure all business activity is conducted in line with the company values, policies and ethics code of conduct.

 

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • A detailed knowledge of UK MOD/HMG Commercial Policies and Procedures
  • Good knowledge of defence-related contracts
  • Demonstrable experience in reviewing and negotiating contract terms and conditions within the commercial environment
  • Experience of customer contracts management and recognition of commercial risk
  • Working knowledge of contract law
  • Experience of drafting, vetting and negotiating contacts
