L3Harris in Tewkesbury is our HQ for our Intelligence & Cyber International division. In the land domain, our T7 and T4 multi-mission robots deliver next-generation remote capabilities and uncompromised performance. We design and manufacture world-leading land force protection systems, cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA), electronic warfare (EW) and encryption capabilities. Our cyber capabilities provide an information advantage in the fields of kinetic conflict, cyber warfare, force protection and counterterrorism.
We are looking for researchers/algorithm developers with a Radio Frequency (RF) background to join our electronic warfare engineering team.
A few of our employee benefits are:
- £3,000 to £6,000 DV Bonus – please note this level of clearance isn’t essential for this role. This bonus is subject to individual clearance and project requirements – discussed upon application.
- Hybrid working where possible, three days onsite per week but this is project dependent.
- Half day finish on a Friday

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Lead or support research in cutting edge technology in the fields of RF signal analysis, propagation and electronic countermeasures in the communications domain.
- Develop algorithms and/or simulations (using MATLAB, Python or other similar tools) to demonstrate new functionality or analyse digitised RF data
- Review and analyse the latest research in the fields of RF signal analysis and electronic warfare (EW)
- Produce technical documentation and present project outcomes to customers and internally
- Lead or contribute to the generation of technical proposals and bids
- Interface with customers and other industry partners within the defence EW arena
- Identify opportunities to pull through low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) technology into existing and future EW products
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- An understanding of RF in the communications frequency ranges to include some of either modulation, demodulation, signal analysis, propagation and software defined radios (SDRs).
- An understanding of communications electronic countermeasures
- Proven track record in the generation of algorithms to process and analyse RF data, ideally in the fields of communication systems or communications EW.
- Ability to understand and sift through relevant scientific papers covering state of the art in the fields of RF, software defined radios (SDRs) and electronic countermeasures
- Some awareness of software (ideally Python coding experience), firmware (FPGA) and electronic design (digital and RF).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex scientific principles to a wide audience including customers, engineers and senior managers
- Proactive self-starter who can take responsibility for their work and growing their network both internally and externally.
