Job Description:
The purpose of the Manufacturing Technician in Exhaust includes: creating value-add through equipment optimization, process improvements, engineering experimentation, cross-training, and initiating core pipeline communications from the production staff to upper level staff. The result of the Exhaust Technician’s participation includes improved cycle time, rescued product (tubes), lowered cost per tube, higher levels of yield and output, and a more cohesive operational unit. The Exhaust Technician I should have a basic understanding of the vacuum and electronic disciplines as it applies to the Exhaust Process
Essential Functions:
- Observe and troubleshoot; decrease cycle time, when possible, by moving product through processes in a manner that avoids delays or non-value-added activities due to equipment down-time, or idle lapses of equipment inactivity
- Check paperwork and the status of the equipment, making sure that the equipment is running on schedule, and looking for any potential delay issues
- Identify issues due to equipment malfunction. Prepare stations and submit maintenance work orders to the equipment maintenance team to accomplish repairs
- Build an understanding of processes, equipment, and product
- Able to perform a limited amount of maintenance (using a checklist) such as leak checks
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent with 0-3 years prior experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to become familiar with SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- Previous experience with ultra-high vacuum technology and/or semiconductor processing desired (OJT provided)
- Ability to become familiar with Six Sigma problem solving tools, 5S+1, and Lean methodologies
- Ability to work independently; ability to multitask and switch tasks from one job process/procedure to another as needed to meet production requirements
- Ability to write procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues
- Basic knowledge of vacuum and electronic disciplines
- Understanding of the Exhaust process and micro-channel plate and photocathode activation
- Strong research and documentation skills when working on projects with engineering department
- Ability to communicate well across various organizations, verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of all safety (mechanical, chemical, electrical) procedures applicable to job
