Job Description:

The Engineering Technician will work under the guidance of the manufacturing engineer or site lead for the manufacturing build of the I2 Tube intensifiers. The candidate will contribute to the company’s success by performing a variety of engineering work in the development, improvement, and optimization of multiple processes and techniques utilized in the manufacture of I2 tubes, including vacuum deposition of inorganic and metallic films, glass processing, chemical etching and handling, materials analysis, and characterization. The work will involve improving and optimizing current processes and materials targeting increased new image intensifier capabilities, manufacturing yield, and/or reduced variance. Emphasis will be in improvement of component performance, implementing manufacturing standard work, best practices, and developing optimized process recipes and methodologies.

Success in this role will be measured by the timely improved process development and supporting implementation of new processes into production, resulting in cost-savings associated with reduced tool down time, improved component level yield, and/or enhanced product performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Qualify, setup, and audit process equipment using written work instructions
  • Perform process verification metrology or inspection steps for each process step performed based on classified data
  • Perform calculations to determine process conditions and transfer SPC data into manufacturing dashboard
  • Perform documented out of control action plans (OCAPs) for processes failing SPC limits
  • Identify process and/or equipment issues and escalate to the appropriate issue owner
  • Document and escalate quality and procedural non-conformances to the appropriate issue owner
  • Perform design of experiment (DOEs) tests defined by Process Engineering counterparts
  • Identify process improvement ideas and work with Process Engineering to test and implement them
  • Perform on-the-job training for manufacturing technicians to increase process technical knowledge
  • Support and follow instructions from area engineer
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with heat treatment of different metal alloys.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Basic understanding of electronic principles
  • Experience building electro/mechanical assemblies using process instructions.
  • Willingness to work and learn in fast paced production environment
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical and electronic blueprints
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (ex: Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Minitab statistical software
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing Principles
