Job Description:

L3Harris’ Corporate Headquarters located in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Sr. Specialist to join our Corporate Direct Category Management Team. The Sr. Specialist, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for supporting category management and strategic sourcing initiatives through supply market analysis, supplier identification, RFx execution, supplier bid evaluation, sourcing analytics, negotiation support, contract support, and supplier relationship management. This role works cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, production, finance, and legal to help identify qualified suppliers, evaluate sourcing options, develop insights, and drive value across L3Harris. The ideal candidate will bring experience in sourcing or procurement within a complex business environment and demonstrate the ability to analyze supplier data, assess market conditions, support sourcing strategy execution, and contribute to enterprise sourcing objectives. Additionally, this position demands excellent interpersonal skills to influence change across Segments and Programs.

 

This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Strategic Sourcing as part of the Corporate Direct Category Management Team. Our strategic supply chain organization focuses on leveraging the company’s scale and deploying best practices to achieve best possible quality, technology, cost and delivery for our customers.          

Essential Functions:

  • Support supply market analysis and initial supplier identification for assigned categories and sourcing initiatives.
  • Conduct market research and provide input on supply and demand conditions, supplier capabilities, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage RFx events; coordinate supplier communications and follow-up to ensure understanding of business and technical requirements.
  • Analyze supplier responses, including pricing, commercial structures, and qualitative inputs, and prepare bid evaluation materials for category and business leadership.
  • Perform reporting, data analysis, and scenario modeling to support supplier selection and sourcing recommendations.
  • Manipulate and summarize bid and supplier data to identify trends, risks, cost drivers, and potential award scenarios.
  • Support the development and execution of category strategies for assigned commodities or spend areas.
  • Provide input to sourcing strategies and processes in alignment with category objectives and enterprise requirements.
  • Support sourcing levers including supplier rationalization, direct negotiations, make-versus-buy analysis, vendor-managed inventory programs, inventory reduction initiatives, and rebate opportunities.
  • Apply procurement analytics and sourcing tools to support negotiations and sourcing decisions, including should-cost methods, price analysis, scenario planning, benchmarking, and eSourcing tools as applicable.
  • Assess supplier capacity, lead times, capabilities, and competitive positioning to support sourcing and supplier management decisions.
  • Support negotiations with strategic and preferred suppliers to maximize value across L3Harris and its affiliates.
  • Support contract development and administration activities, including coordination of additions, deletions, extensions, and modifications.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support development of Statements of Work and supplier requirements in accordance with engineering, production, and quality needs.
  • Support supplier relationship management activities through analysis of supplier performance, responsiveness, capacity, and strategic fit.
  • Maintain sourcing timelines and project milestones for assigned initiatives and escalate delays, risks, and unresolved issues to category leadership as appropriate.
  • Ensure disciplined documentation and compliance with applicable sourcing processes, policies, and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations with 6 years prior experience, Graduate Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations with 4 years prior experience experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, supplier management, contracts, category management, or related business function.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience supporting or leading RFx development, execution, and supplier communication activities.
  • Experience analyzing supplier bids, pricing, and commercial proposals to support sourcing decisions.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, production, quality, finance, legal, and/or program stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other sourcing, ERP, or data analysis tools.
  • Experience in Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry preferred with specific FAR/DFAR experience
  • Self-managed/motivated – ability to independently set priorities, meet commitments with a desire to continuously improve.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other complex regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting category management and strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple sites or business units.
  • Experience with supply market analysis, should-cost modeling, price analysis, and sourcing scenario evaluation.
  • Experience supporting supplier negotiations and contract development.
  • Familiarity with Statements of Work, supplier terms and conditions, and contract modification processes.
  • Experience with eSourcing platforms, procurement systems, and supplier or spend analytics tools.
  • Ability to assess supplier operational capabilities, manufacturing capacity, and supply risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate market intelligence and supplier analysis into sourcing recommendations.
  • Experience supporting supplier relationship management and supplier performance analysis.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $84,000-$156,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $73,000-$135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
