Job Description:
Detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Analyst to oversee day-to-day payroll operations and support payroll tax activities across multiple jurisdictions. The role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes full ownership of payroll execution, and brings strong analytical skills to resolve issues and drive process improvements. The Payroll Analyst will ensure accurate and timely pay delivery, manage tax notices, and collaborate cross-functionally to uphold payroll integrity and compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Own and execute full-cycle payroll processing for multi-state employees, including payroll validation, processing, and post-payroll reporting
- Resolve payroll tax notices from federal, state, and local agencies
- Support payroll tax filings by preparing data, validating reports, and coordinating with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders
- Maintain payroll system data integrity, including audits of employee records and tax setups
- Document and enhance payroll processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
- Assist with audits and compliance reporting, providing detailed records and analysis
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-state
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of degree, minimum 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 3–5 years of hands-on payroll experience, including multi-state processing for a mid -to-large employer
- Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and experience handling agency correspondence
- Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, ADP, Workday, UKG, Paylocity)
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret data and trends
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards affecting payroll processing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
- Reliable and responsible handling of sensitive information
- Effective communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues
- Attention to Detail ensuring accuracy in financial records and reports
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $61,500-$114,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $54,000-$100,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
