Job Description:
The Enterprise Financial Accounting & Reporting Group (EFAR) is seeking a motivated and detail oriented experienced accountant to join our External Reporting team. This role is critical in supporting the preparation of external financial reports and ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. The position offers exposure to technical accounting topics, cross-functional collaboration, and key corporate reporting processes—while contributing to process improvements, automation initiatives, and the timely, high-quality filing of SEC documents.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures for inclusion in Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and earnings releases
- Review reporting schedules, including equity rollforward, earnings per share, fair value of debt, and other key reconciliations and workpapers to support the quarterly close and SEC filings
- Research, document and propose conclusions on various accounting and reporting issues, including new accounting standards, SEC rules, and non-recurring or complex transactions
- Assist with preparation of other external communications such as investor materials and proxy statement
- Conduct disclosure benchmarking against industry peers to support management’s disclosure objectives while maintaining compliance requirements
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy
- Assist in accounting for non-standard and other material transactions (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures, debt offerings, impairments).
- Support compliance with new and existing SEC disclosure requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors to provide documentation and support for SEC filings and ICFR
- Maintain and improve internal documentation on the external reporting process and conclusions
- Assist in drafting responses to SEC comment letters, exposure drafts and proposed rules
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR, FP&A and Investor Relations to coordinate data collection and reporting
- Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and other corporate reporting initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE) completed; will consider those in progress.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience preparing or supporting SEC filings in a public company environment and/or experience working with Big Four firms, particularly serving SEC clients
- Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and written
- Highly organized and effective in managing time and priorities, with the ability to seamlessly transition between tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Advanced analytical, financial, and accounting skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and functions (e.g., nested IFs, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables)
- Experience with Workiva SEC reporting and/or Workiva Wdata
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $82,500 - $153,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $72,500 - $132,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
