Job Description:

The Quality Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Quality Inspectors and Quality Engineers in support large liquid rocket propulsion testing and integration at the John C. Stennis Space Center.  This will include supporting engine integration into the Artemis launch vehicle at the John F. Kennedy Space Center. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Reports directly to the Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) Stennis Site Quality Leader. 
  • Coordinates and works closely with the AR Manager, Quality Assembly Operations.
  • Interfaces directly with Government oversight organizations such as NASA, Bastion Technologies and DCMA. 
  • Provides leadership to both Quality Engineers and Quality Inspectors. 
  • Works cross functionally to achieve on-time delivery of quality products that ensure flight safety and that meets or exceeds cost objectives.
  • Ensures a flight safety focus and adherence to the quality management system (QMS)
  • Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to and enforcing safety standards.
  • Champions/leads continuous improvement effort
  • Analyze key quality measures such as Cost of Poor Quality to develop zero defect plans
  • Performs root cause analysis 
  • Ensures timely completion of employee time keeping, training, employee evaluations, and performance management.
  • Ensures adherence to AS9100

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Must be able to obtain and maintain NASA Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) security clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • B.S. degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc or higher.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead projects/initiatives (enterprise, site, function).
  • High level of emotional intelligence.
  • Experience with high reliability products/systems (aviation, space, nuclear, etc.)
  • Strong Quality Management System and Quality principles acumen in an aerospace and/or defense environment.
  • Change Management.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proactive, self-starter.
  • Statistical Process Control/Process Variation Management
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis.
  • ASQ Certification/s – CQE, CRE, CMQ/OE, Etc.
  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification or work history in leading and implementing projects with results
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including communications, facilitation, consulting, coaching, and influencing
  • Highly collaborative style, capable of working across multiple functional areas to drive results
