Job Description:

This position supports efficient movement of materials by performing both physical and administrative tasks related to shipping, receiving, storing and distributing materials, parts, supplies and equipment. The role ensures quality by rejecting unsatisfactory items and coordinates shipment routing within established parameters. Responsibilities include selecting economical carriers, determining shipping methods and rates, calculating applicable charges, and maintaining accurate shipment records.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Receive incoming materials; unpack, inspect, and verify goods against purchase orders or invoices, ensuring accuracy in quantity, weight, and specifications.
  • Maintain records of received goods and process all related documentation, including freight bills, packing sheets, and other required forms.
  • Stock and distribute materials in inventory and along manufacturing lines, following established material-handling procedures.
  • Determine routing and shipping arrangements by evaluating handling requirements, item type, urgency, cost, and shipment size.
  • Consult rate schedules, identify economical and efficient carriers, and calculate applicable charges such as storage or redelivery.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of shipped products and track shipments to ensure timely delivery, including rerouting urgent shipments when needed.
  • Lift heavy items and operate material-handling equipment (pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts) upon successful completion of internal certification.
  • Perform wood shop tasks, such as operating power saws and nail guns, to build skids and crates when required, while adhering to Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain US Government clearance

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience performing wood shop tasks
  • Experience operating material handling equipment
