Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Space Operations Trainer to support mission-critical national security space operations within the NRO Operations Center (NOC). This position serves as a subject matter expert responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive space operations training programs to both operational and supporting personnel to ensure sustained mission readiness and performance excellence.
The Space Operations Trainer directly supports the NOC mission and contributes to advancing the Space Warfighting Mission through structured curriculum development, operational analysis, lessons-learned integration, and readiness validation activities. This role ensures personnel are prepared to monitor, analyze, assess, and deliver mission status, courses of action (COAs), anomaly investigations, and decision-support products to senior government decision-makers.
The selected candidate will operate within a dynamic, high-tempo environment, collaborating with Government and Contractor professionals to enhance operational proficiency, strengthen mission resilience, and drive continuous improvement in training effectiveness across the enterprise.
Essential Functions:
• Perform periodic training material reviews for both operational and support training products.
• Schedule, lead formal and informal classroom instruction for all organizational divisions
• Lead training meetings, attend ops update briefings, exercise, strategic planning meetings, and tool demonstrations, sharing SME knowledge & system expertise.
• Offer hands-on system training for operators upon request.
• Maintain system proficiency in operational systems operated under the contract portfolio.
• Author training documentation and builds visual aids with step-by-step instructions, capturing system screenshots with supporting annotations .
• Familiarize self and training team members with developing system tools, updates relevant job aids, checklists and training reference material.
• Assist in system integration and development efforts as SME and user resource.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Top Secret SCI with CI Poly required.
• 3+ years’ experience with DoW Instructional System Design (ISD) or equivalent
• 3+ years space operations and/or experience using NRO on-orbit space systems tools, System Tool Kit (STK), and threat determination analysis tools.
Additional Preferred Skills:
• Completion of an accredited basic instructor course or equivalent.
Orbital Mechanics experience in the Space Domain Awareness (SDA) domain.
