Job Description:
L3Harris Communications & Spectrum Dominiance (CSD) seeks a Application Engineer / Architect in Tallin, Estonia supporting Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia MoD. The Apps Engineer will be the primary technical contact to the customer for modernising their defence communications systems utilising L3Harris Mission Critical Communications (MCC) Products. This role is pivotal for ensuring the operational integrity of the radio products as they are deployed within their tactical command structure and integrated into various platforms. The Apps Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams both internally and with Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia MoD, acting as a key member of design, integration, testing, fielding, and maintenance efforts.
Based in Tallin, Estonia, the position demands regional travel.
Essential Functions:
- Support Technical Discussions: Assist/Lead technical discussions with customers developing systems solutions based on L3Harris Radio and modern MANET Waveforms. Establish and maintain working relationships as a technical resource with the customer.
- Develop System Architectures: Facilitate the development of comprehensive system architectures to meet customer-specific requirements for C4ISR systems, ensuring deployment over various radio frequencies for voice and data applications.
- Assist in System Integration: Provide support during the design and integration of L3Harris products with third-party systems, including intercom systems, electronics, software applications, and power systems.
- Support Physical Integration: Assist with the physical integration of L3Harris products into various platforms such as land vehicles, shelters, fixed sites, ships, aircraft, and UAVs.
- Prepare Documentation: Prepare white papers and presentations and assist in presenting custom systems solutions to customers.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work with Technical Field Service, Sales, Program, and Project Management to translate customer requirements into balanced technical, schedule, and cost solutions.
- Coordination of Schedules / Resources: Participate in planning and coordination meetings with the customer and facilitate proper resources availability when required.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time within region to support customer meetings, integration events, and training efforts, etc.
- Re-initializations: Support Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia MODs to re-initialise radios as needed.
Qualifications:
- BSEE/BSME/BSCE/BSSE and 6 years of experience or master’s degree with 4 years of work experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- 5 years of experience of technical demonstrations, trials, Systems Level Design and Integration around relevant technologies. Including support and fault analysis of tactical communications and networking systems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret security clearance and be eligible to work in Estonia and within other European counties.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Competency with RF Propagation, RF Co-Site, RF Colocation
- Deployment
- Understand the fundamentals of IP Networking
- Knowledge of Multi-Level Security (MLS), cross-domain networks, and Federated Mission Networking (FMN) Framework Process for net-centric operations.
- Experience demonstrated in Systems Design and Systems Integration with relevant technologies.
