Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Windows Systems Engineer to support secure, high-availability Windows-based infrastructure in a classified enterprise environment. This role is critical to maintaining system integrity, security compliance, and operational readiness in support of national security missions.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, configuring, and managing Active Directory environments, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and core Microsoft services, and will collaborate across IT, cybersecurity, and mission operations teams to ensure system resilience and performance.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) in virtual and physical infrastructures.
  • Administer Active Directory domains, organizational units, users, and service accounts, ensuring proper permissions and group policy application.
  • Implement and support GPOs, login scripts, security baselines, and PKI integration for DoD-compliant systems.
  • Maintain and monitor enterprise backup solutions and antivirus/endpoint security tools (e.g., Trellix, Defender, or Symantec).
  • Support Windows patching and configuration management using WSUS, SCCM/MECM, or equivalent tools.
  • Document procedures and configurations and provide escalation support to Tier 2 administrators.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems are compliant with STIGs and other hardening standards.
  • Support audit readiness, incident response, and remediation efforts.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Active adjudicated Top Secret/SCI Clearance is required and ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, GSEC) is required.
  • Relevant computing environment certification (e.g., MCSE, AZ-800, AZ-801) is required.

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience supporting mission-critical classified networks and systems.
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows authentication mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell for system management and automation.
  • Experience implementing STIGs and securing Windows systems per DISA guidelines.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with system monitoring, event log management, and incident correlation.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise endpoint security tools and patch management workflows.
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot multi-tier Windows environments and domain trusts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $90,500 - $168,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
