Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies currently has an opening for a Lead, Systems Engineer to support the National Space Defense Center at Schriever SFB, CO. The Systems Engineer will lead a dynamic team supporting cutting edge systems for the space industry and will support Space Domain Awareness (SDA) activities.
We are seeking a highly skilled Space Operations Engineer with a TS/SCI clearance to implement, and troubleshoot infrastructure solutions critical to our space operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in systems and networking, with a strong focus on virtualization and automation to support mission-critical operations.
Essential Functions:
- Design and implement IT infrastructure systems supporting space operations, ensuring high availability and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking and systems issues, maintaining operational continuity.
- Monitor system performance using various tools and implement improvements based on data analysis.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and configurations for efficient system management using languages such as shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, and Python.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and optimize existing systems.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and best practices for sensitive information handling.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Proven experience in infrastructure design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).
- Familiarity with monitoring systems and tools for performance analysis.
- Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including designing and deploying cloud-based solutions and managing cloud infrastructure services (e.g., laaS, PaaS).
- Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) and their declarative query languages, enabling effective data management and retrieval for applications.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
- Understanding of DevOps methodologies and practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), to enhance collaboration between development and operations teams.
- Experience with project management framework (e.g., Agile, Scrum) to contribute effectively to project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and emerging technologies.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $106,500 - $197,500 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
