Job Description:  
The Communications Systems Algorithm Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing sophisticated algorithms that enhance the performance and efficiency of communication systems. The role will involve analyzing system requirements, performing signal processing and data analysis, and implementing algorithms that address complex communication challenges such as modulation, coding, error correction, and signal detection. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration and validation of algorithms within the overall system architecture. A strong background in digital signal processing, mathematical modeling, and communication theory is essential, along with the ability to innovatively solve problems and drive advancements in communication technology. Leverages L3Harris's expertise and capabilities, exploring ways to apply our advanced solutions to new challenges. This position may require travel up to 10% of the time, enabling engagement directly with stakeholders and support various project needs on-site.

 
Essential Functions:  
•    RF System Design and Architecture using DSP devices: Develop and oversee the design and architecture of complex systems, ensuring they meet all technical requirements and specifications.
•    Project Leadership: Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams through the entire systems engineering lifecycle, from concept development to system deployment and maintenance.
•    Integration and Verification: Oversee the integration of various system components and ensure they work together seamlessly. Plan and conduct system verification and validation activities to ensure the system meets all required performance and reliability standards.
•    Risk Management: Identify potential risks throughout the system's lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies to address these risks effectively.
•    Customer and Stakeholder Interaction: Engage with customers and other stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure their requirements are incorporated into the system design. Communicate project status and technical information effectively.
•    Innovation and Problem Solving: Lead efforts to innovate and improve existing system designs. Resolve complex technical issues that arise during the design, development, or deployment phases.
•    Performance Analysis: Conduct performance analysis and modeling to predict and verify system behavior under various conditions.
•    Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, to ensure integrated system solutions.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
•    9 Years of experience in RF and Communication system Design, Datalink HW development
•    5 years of experience with  algorithm development and digital signal processing with proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, SIMULINK, and C/C++
•    3 Experience with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and signal analyzers
•    Active SECRET clearance 
•    Ability to obtain TS clearance

Preferred Additional Skills: 
•    Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
•    Experience evaluating requirements and writing technical proposals
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
•    Understanding of satellite CONOPS
•    An active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance
•    Experience with project planning and proposal activities
•    Experience preparing presentation materials, documentation, and presenting technical designs internally and customer facing
•    Experience with SDR (Software Defined Radio) platforms like USRP, HackRF


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $125,000 – $232,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
