Job Description:
The Senior Supervisor, Operations Management role is responsible for directly managing a diverse team of production personnel in a fast-paced environment. They will interact with various levels of management and all areas of the plant to include Materials, Production Control, Test, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance and Shipping. The role is responsible for ensuring that operators strive to achieve production targets in quality, schedule and cost containment while maintaining a safe work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Provide tactical direction to the assembly areas to support the needs of the business
- Day-to-day direction of work assignments of staff. This includes:
- Ensure staffing has adequate skillset for current and future business needs
- Ensure all special process certifications and required training are always up to date
- Provide administrative support for direct reports to ensure they have the tools necessary to complete their jobs
- Partner with support organizations to maintain flow of hardware through assembly
- Set tone and culture for the area to align with the overall goals of operations
- Understand and effectively communicate production goals.
- Lead and/or facilitate Lean/Continuous Improvement efforts and projects and incorporate continuous improvement into the Manufacturing organization. Enforce performance against key metrics including the 6S Program, on time delivery, production levels, down time, and the integrity of the buffer system.
- Monitor production yields, manage daily/weekly failure trends throughout all processes, and lead yield improvement activities.
- Serve as an employer advocate (role model), positively promoting the company image and appropriately identifying, addressing, or directing concerns that may have a negative impact on the company image.
- Understand, communicate, and enforce safety regulations and requirements applicable to the cell environment.
- Continually review and enforce the use and maintenance of work instructions, routers, logs, scrap tickets, training matrix, calibration requirements and company procedures.
- Keep detailed records of personnel and provide periodic feedback for subordinates, including recognition for strengths and opportunities for improvements. Write and present annual performance reviews.
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD secret level security clearance which requires US Citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- At least 2 years of experience working with LEAN, 5S or Continuous Improvement training and experience implementing these initiatives
- 2+ years in a DOD/Aerospace manufacturing
- At least 2 years of experience working with production key performance indicators (yields, uptime and throughput)
- At least 2 years working with Root cause analysis/troubleshooting, Health and Safety concepts and procedures.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- SAP Experience
- Effective communication skills to motivate, train, coach and mentor employees while being consistent in work and in action
- Excellent problem solving with control methods – foresight and ability to adapt to circumstances (schedule change, staff call in, etc.), use appropriate disciplinary methods, accordingly, be technically-competent (plant, process and SOP knowledge)
- Understand production, schedule, manpower and budget planning
- Prioritize and utilize resources to achieve desired results
- Be aware of potential employee issues and effectively manage employee performance
- Experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 management systems
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications
