Job Description:
The Piezo Ceramic Production Manager will be responsible for directly managing a diverse team of supervisors, engineers and production personnel in a fast-paced environment. They will interact with all levels of management and all areas of the plant to include Materials, Production Control, Test, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance and Shipping. The role will be responsible for ensuring that operators strive to achieve production targets in quality, schedule and cost containment while maintaining a safe work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate all functional (supply chain management, production, quality, test, finance, and engineering) tasks to ensure project/program objectives are achieved.
- Responsible for assuring that the cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives are successfully achieved on all assigned programs.
- Oversee preparation of status reports and conduct reviews on assigned programs with all department representatives.
- Manage assignment of priorities to meet functional requirements and deadlines.
- Ensure overall process compliance across all Operations functional areas.
- Foster a data driven culture and educate key partners on effective production planning and execution.
- Support metrics and reporting rhythms to drive strategy execution and consistently achieve objectives and key results.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Facilitate scrum meetings including daily stand-up meetings.
- Provide stakeholders with visibility and updates on key initiatives.
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers.
- Clarify and drive manufacturing commitments as well as establish and maintain clear chains of accountability and communication by facilitating meetings with key stakeholders.
- Support proposals activity by coordinating and providing manufacturing inputs.
- Lead operational performance, driving hardware deliveries to plan.
- Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to ensure priorities and programs are aligned with short- and long-term business objectives.
- Coordinate the preparation of operating budgets and manufacturing plans.
- Track and manage the operational costs and performance of the program.
- Define and keep up-to-date process documentation.
- Knows and drives adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MRO operational team.
- Partners with Continuous Improvement (CI) team in development of new SOPs and modifications to existing SOPs
- Focus on achievement of increased throughput while reducing operating expenses and overall costs
- Focus on behavior-based safety through strong leadership, adherence to company policies, programs and proactive real-time feedback and actions
- Adherence and effective PPE utilization
- Ensure that Direct Labor and Indirect Labor goals are achieved
- Eliminate actual and potential safety issues, unsafe acts and conditions to preclude accidents
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities which include training, assigning and directing work of team
- Supervise, educate, train, coach and provide motivational opportunities to team; remove barriers to assure individual and group success and completion of all goals in the areas of safety, quality, customer satisfaction, productivity, cost control and continuous improvement
- Conduct performance appraisals, issue commendations and disciplinary actions and address complaints and resolve problems for all direct reports in a timely fashion
- Establish and maintain a professional and consistent work environment to help ensure company remains viable and healthy Provide a satisfactory work environment while maintaining positive employee relations
- Provide the required leadership role through active participation in the development of employees and employee morale
- Establish an atmosphere of teamwork to assure the success of the team
Qualifications:
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- At least 9 years of experience working with LEAN, 5S or Continuous Improvement training and experience implementing these initiatives
- 5+ years in supervisory or team lead role
- 5+ years in a DOD/Aerospace manufacturing
- 5 years of experience working with production key performance indicators (yields, uptime and throughput)
- 5 years of experience working with Statistical Process Control
- 5 years working with Root cause analysis/troubleshooting, Health and Safety concepts and procedures.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Effective communication skills to motivate, train, coach and mentor employees while being consistent in work and in action
- Excellent problem solving with control methods – foresight and ability to adapt to circumstances (schedule change, staff call in, etc.), use appropriate disciplinary methods, accordingly, be technically-competent (plant, process and SOP knowledge)
- Understand productions, schedules, manpower and budget planning
- Prioritize and utilize resources to get desired result
- Be aware of potential employee issues and handle appropriately, performance manage and regular feedback
- Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications
