We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated software engineer with a DevOps focus to join our L3Harris Broadband Communications Systems team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The successful candidate will work as a critical member of our DevOps team, collaborating with 5-7 other engineers serving both unclassified and classified environments. The role involves SW development pipeline maintenance, deployment and system configuration management, automation, virtualization, and containerization. Essential Functions:
- Work with the DevOps team to design and deploy software development pipelines.
- Support integration of disparate systems for customer end systems in air-gapped environments.
- Implement and maintain features with Git, Infrastructure as Code, and Kubernetes.
- Manage and implement development tools in secure/classified environments, ensuring end-to-end encryption and secure communication channels.
- Implement and manage certificate exchange authentication processes.
- Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters to support scalable and robust application deployments.
- Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while adhering to best practices and development processes.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure and servers using configuration management tools such as Salt, Ansible, and Puppet.
- Create tools to improve automation, reliability, and continuously improve our pipeline.
- Promote continuous improvement and exploration of new technologies.
- Ensure all systems security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented and updated as necessary.
- Travel requirement – less than 10%
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and 8 years of relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrable experience in some of the following areas:
- Infrastructure-as-code (IAC) maintained using Salt, Ansible, and Puppet.
- Developing software pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab-CI, and Artifactory.
- Application containerization and on-premises Kubernetes integration.
- Utilizing and developing primarily in Linux.
- Working knowledge of software engineering and quality assurance processes.
- Technical background in software development (language agnostic).
- Ability to script in various languages (e.g., Python, Bash, groovy.).
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- US Citizenship required due to the nature of our work. Qualified candidates must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Excellent computer skills.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience scripting with Bash, Python, and Make.
- Experience in CMake and C++ development.
- Experience with RHEL 7/8/9 environments as well as Ubuntu or Debian.
- RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- Knowledge of network firewalls, routing, subnetting, and port mappings.
- Experience with security implementations such as SELinux, FAPolicyd, and security scans.
- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, SEC+).
- Experience developing, implementing, and integrating REST APIs.
